Concealed or Open Carry in Brookfield Square Mall?

A restaurant employee said she saw a young man in the food court with a holstered gun on his hip but police could not find anyone. Mall rules prohibit weapons.

The governor today signed into law the concealed carry bill, but Brookfield Square mall rules say no guns are allowed inside.

So when a man was seen in the food court this week with a gun holstered on his hip, it prompted an extensive police search, reports say.

The man never was found and the report never verified.

An employee at Stir Fry told mall security that she saw a young man, possibly about 17 years old with a holstered gun on his hip walking in the food court during the noon hour on Tuesday.

She said the man who was walking with a female "did not threaten, brandish or remove" the gun from his hip the entire time she saw him.

Mall security called Brookfield police who conducted an extensive search inside and outside the mall but found no one with a weapon.

"This is a violation of their no weapon in mall rule," the report said.
