A Brookfield contractor forged insurance documents so he could obtain work from another contracting company, a criminal complaint alelges.
Jack M. Richarz, 39, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with two counts of forgery by altering the value of an object. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On July 12, an employee with R&R Insurance in Waukesha contacted police after she discovered Richarz had been presenting information that he was insured by R&R. The documents were submitted to Sawfish Contracting on March 15 and 26, but company records showed Richarz hadn’t had insurance with R&R since 2007.
Richarz, owner of S.E.R. Roofing, admitted to the contractor that he was working to get his permits so he could run the business, the complaint alleges.
He will make his first court appearance Oct. 29.
