Crews Respond to Dryer Fire Sunday

The dryer will need to be replaced but the fire was limited to the appliance.

A dryer fire Sunday caused an estimated $1,000 in damage but did not spread to the rest of the house, according to the Brookfield Fire Department.

Fire crews responded about 4:34 p.m. Sunday to a home in the 18000 block of Beverly Hills Drive. The homeowner said he had used a fire extinguisher and garden hose to put out the dryer fire.

The lint screen was partially burned but the flames had not spread to the vent hose, according to fire reports. Crews advised the homeowner not to use the dryer hose, which was clogged with lint, until it was cleaned. The dryer will need to be replaced.
