Driver Identified in Brookfield Crash that Killed Tosa Woman

Brookfield Police Friday released the identity of a driver whose , killing Candace "Candy" Mae Durdin, 69, of Wauwatosa.

Investigators would not comment on why Jesse A. George, 30, of Waukesha, strayed from his westbound lane into the eastbound one, striking Durdin's minivan.

"The accident is still under investigation and when completed will be
forwarded to the District Attorney," Police Capt. Jim Adlam said.

That review will take at least another week, he said.

Meanwhile, George remains hospitalized himself in stable condition.

Both George and Durdin were alive and conscious when rescue personnel used the Jaws of Life to remove them and get them to Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital after the 7 p.m. May 29 collision on North, 400 feet east of Hollyhock Lane.

Durdin died at 12:40 a.m. May 30 from her injuries.

Retired in 2004 after 45 years in nursing, Durdin was a member of the Wauwatosa Community Band and the Plymouth Municipal Band when she lived in Plymouth, according to an obituary in the Sheboygan Sun.
