Two 5-Time Drunken Drivers and Two Crashes in Crackdown, Police Say
Brookfield police made seven OWI-related arrests in recent days, including two for their alleged fifth offenses, a mother who had her 5-year-old daughter in the vehicle, and more.
In a continued focus on preventing intoxicated driving, Brookfield police made seven drunken driving-related arrests from Thursday to Sunday.
"The department has and will continue to aggressively enforce OAWI incidents," Brookfield Police Capt. Phil Horter said. "An additional emphasis will be placed during the holiday season due to holiday parties and festivities."
Brookfield participated in a drunken driving crackdown on Thanksgiving Eve, being part of a highly visible streetside roll call at the major intersection of Bluemound and Mayfair roads, with multiple other police agencies and the State Patrol. That effort netted the arrest of 16 alleged drunken drivers.

"The goal is to provide safety for the motoring public and the public in general," Horter said Monday. "The department certainly encourages responsibility on the part of drivers and servers."
Brookfield receives grant money from the state Department of Transportation's Bureau of Traffic Safety to help bolster its routine drunken driving enforcements.
