Firefighters Prevented Spread of Chimney Fire to Apartment Complex

Police and fire officials responded Saturday to reports of smoke and fire at the Woodlands of Brookfield.

Brookfield firefighters were able to stop a weekend chimney fire from spreading on to the roof of apartments at the Woodlands of Brookfield.

Fire and police officials were called to the scene at 855 Lakeview Drive about 9 p.m. Saturday with reports of visible smoke and flames. When firefighters arrived they saw only smoke.

Heat from the chimney ignited the wood chimney box that surrounds the metal pipe chimney.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from igniting the roof of the four-unit apartment building.  There was no damage to the interior of the apartments.
