Former Mayor's House Gets Egged

Police issue tickets to two teens accused of targeting Speaker's daughter.

Former Mayor Jeffrey Speaker's house got egged Friday night by two teenage boys who were targeting Speaker's daughter, according to city police reports.

The two boys, both 17, received municipal citations for criminal damage to property for throwing more than a dozen eggs that damaged six window screens and messed up Speaker's Ford pickup truck.

Speaker called the department about 9:50 p.m. Friday to say his house had just been egged and he believed he knew who was responsible.

When police contacted that teen, the boy confessed that he and a friend egged the house because he had "relationship problems" with Speaker's daughter. The teen said the two threw more than a dozen eggs and then started on a second egg carton before fleeing.

Speaker, a former police officer who served as mayor from 2002 to 2010, when he was defeated for re-election to a third term, asked that the youth pay restitution for the screen damage in an amount to be determined.  He said the eggs also struck his pickup, but he was able to wash it off.
