Hajny Murder Trial Postponed

Judge's medical issue requires the trial to be postponed for several months, possibly until fall.

The murder trial of Lynn Hajny will not take place next week due to a medical issue for Waukesha County Circuit Judge Patrick Haughney.

According to court officials, Haughney is expected to be out for a couple of weeks due to a non-life threatening medical issue, requiring the trial to be rescheduled. Branch VI officials said no tentative date has been set yet for the trial, but it will be pushed back several months.

Hajny, 49, is accused of helping her boyfriend Tommy Douyette, 42, inside his Brookfield home in June 2011. Douyette entered a guilty plea in January as part of a plea deal and was scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

But Assistant Waukesha County District Attorney Jennifer Lough said that will also be pushed back. Part of Douyette's plea deal was a requirement that if Hajny goes to trial, Douyette will testify and that his sentencing would not occur until after Hajny's trial.
