Heroin Dispute in Town of Brookfield Leads to Charges
Suspect, 21, allegedly took heroin, cooker and syringe from a man who was using drugs, prompting a fight between the two.
A West Bend woman is facing drug charges after she allegedly took heroin from a male acquaintance at a Town of Brookfield home.
Tara A. Benke, 21, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of possession of narcotic drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, she faces up to three years and nine months in prison, and $10,500 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, at 5:21 p.m. May 7, officers were called to a home in the 21100 block of Mary Lynn Drive after the owner of the house called and said “stuff was going on here” and hung up. Upon arriving at the home, officers found Benke and a man arguing in the street.

Benke told officers the man she was arguing with had been using heroin in the bathroom of the home and she had broken into the room and took a syringe, cooker and heroin, which she then hid in her bra. She said she began arguing with the man because she was a recovering addict, and the two eventually got into a physical fight.
