Illinois Woman Goes Shopping with 16 Credit Cards – None Hers

Sears gets a little suspicious when flatland visitor makes multiple purchases under multiple names.

An Illinois woman came to Wisconsin to do some shopping last week and brought multiple personalities with her.

At 3:59 p.m. July 23, a 46-year-old Illinois woman was arrested on three counts of fraud by theft of identity after police were called to Sears at Brookfield Square on suspicions that the woman was trying to make several fraudulent purchases.

She certainly was – she was in possession of 16 credit cards that belong to people other than herself. She was sent to the Waukesha County Jail.

Do as Mother says

At 5:24 p.m. July 18, two girls, one 16 and one 17, were cited for theft from JC Penney. They also had stolen merchandise taken from several other stores.

After mall security reported the thefts to police, Brookfield officers found that another detective had already turned up the crimes – when they found the girls, they were returning merchandise to the various stores under the stern eye of the mother of one of them.

More retail thefts

At 5:55 p.m. July 22, a 42-year-old woman was arrested for theft from the Pick ‘n Save at 12735 W. Capitol Dr. after she was caught trying to leave without paying for about $75 worth of health and beauty items.

At 5:56 p.m. July 20, two 15-year-old boys were arrested for theft from two stores, one unspecified in reports, at Brookfield Square. Both had merchandise from Spencer’s Gifts, though Spencer’s declined to prosecute.

At 5:06 p.m. July 19, an 18-year-old woman was arrested for theft from Old Navy at Brookfield Square after she was seen trying to take merchandise from that store and was also found to have more items taken from H&M.       

At 3:37 p.m. July 19, a 51-year-old woman was arrested for theft from Kohl’s, 2315 N. 124th St., after she was seen concealing merchandise and trying to leave without paying.

At 10:43 a.m. July 18, the loss prevention manager at the Pick ‘n Save at 15170 W. Greenfield Ave. reported that he was reviewing store video and saw a theft by a known suspect two days earlier. A woman he recognized as having been arrested in similar thefts on July 3 in Milwaukee and Oak Creek put 15 cans of baby formula worth $255 in her cart, he said, covered them with a bag, and wheeled out the produce entrance without paying and without being stopped.
