Man in Wheelchair Accused of Drunken Driving

Complaint alleges suspect, 45, hit several cars in the Brookfield Rehab employee parking lot.

A Brookfield man accused of driving a motorized wheelchair into cars while intoxicated will remain free from Waukesha County Jail on a $500 signature bond.

Mark A. Wojnowski, 45, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of disorderly conduct after he allegedly driving his motorized wheelchair into vehicles in the employee parking lot of Brookfield Rehab on May 23.

According to the criminal complaint, Wojnowski, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.179 at the time of the incident, struck the rear of a car  a woman was sitting in and then threatened to sue her. The woman continued to watch Wojnowski, who then hit two other vehicles in the parking lot.

According to online circuit court records, Wojnowski didn’t appear for an initial court appearance on Thursday. An arrest warrant had been filed and his appearance was rescheduled for Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in court for another hearing July 22.

If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in prison and $1,000 in fines.
