Man Left Baggie with Marijuana on Passenger Seat During Traffic Stop

Suspect told officers it was "nothing" and tossed the bag on the floor.

A Wauwatosa driver had a baggie with remnants of marijuana on his passenger seat when he was pulled over on suspicion of driving with a revoked license, charges allege.

James R. Keierleber, 46, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of second offense possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

On Oct. 11, Brookfield police pulled Keierleber over in the 14800 block of West Capitol Drive on suspicion of driving with a revoked license. The officer said Keierleber smelled like intoxicants and Keierleber said he had drank some wine earlier that night.

But Keierleber passed field sobriety tests, and officers told him they were going to issue him a citation for driving with revoked privileges. However, as they returned to the car, one of the officers noticed a baggie on the passenger seat with what appeared to be the remnants of marijuana inside.

When asked what it was, Keierleber said it was “nothing” and threw it on the floor of the car. One of the officers grabbed the bag and said it smelled like marijuana. Keierleber then admitted to smoking it earlier that night.

He was free on a $2,500 signature bond while awaiting trial.
