Man Swallowed Blunt When Pulled Over, Hid Cocaine in Engine

Suspect told an officer he felt sick because he swallowed a marijuana blunt after being stopped by police.

A Milwaukee man told police he felt sick because he swallowed a marijuana blunt after being pulled over, charges allege.

But that was the least of his problems — State Patrol troopers say they found cocaine in his engine bay, according to a criminal complaint.

Kalvin Mehran A. Paige, 28, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and $50,000 in fines.

According to the complaint filed in court:

A Wisconsin State Trooper on Jan. 4 stopped a speeding car on eastbound I-94 near Moorland Road. The trooper smelled marijuana in the car but the driver — Paige — said that smell was from a past smoking incident. He allowed the trooper to search his car.

The trooper found a small baggie of marijuana inside the car and then popped the hood to look inside the engine bay. As soon as the hood was popped, Paige began swearing from the back of the trooper’s squad.

Next to the battery was a plastic bag with 15.3 grams of cocaine. The trooper then arrested Paige, who said he was sick because he swallowed his marijuana blunt when he was stopped for speeding.

Paige will make his first court appearance April 2.
