Man Reports Attack, Attempted Theft in Mitchell Park

A 26-year-old man said he was walking along a park road when two men "jumped him" and searched his wallet.

Police were investigating a man's report that he was physically attacked by two men who grabbed his wallet in Mitchell Park.

According to police reports:

A 26-year-old man called police about 12:10 a.m. Friday to say he had just been beaten up by two men who fled on foot.

The man said he had been walking south on Mitchell Park Drive, south of Capitol Drive when he passed two men walking north.

He said the men "jumped him," with one striking him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Someone kicked him twice and grabbed his wallet from his rear pocket.

The man said one suspect looked through the wallet and threw it on the ground after taking nothing. The two fled north toward Capitol Drive, he said.

He described the men as being 18 to 20 years old, wearing baseball hats, jean shorts, short-sleeve shirts and high top shoes.

Officers found no visible injuries on the 26-year-old man.
