Man Steals From Best Buy, Tries to Sell Items Next Door

Even after being confronted by a Best Buy store employee, the man allegedly walks straight over to a resale store in same center to try to sell stolen goods, a complaint says.

A Waukesha man stole items from a Best Buy store and immediately walked to a nearby resale shop to try to sell the stolen goods, charges allege.

Lucas J. Ludwig, 20, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with retail theft, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to 19 months in jail and $20,500 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Ludwig entered the in the Town of Brookfield Saturday, and an employee saw him take and conceal two video game console controllers. Ludwig took the items out of their boxes and then tried walking out with the items until the employee approached him.

Ludwig denied stealing anything. He left and walked to β€” in the same strip mall β€” where he tried to sell the items. He was arrested inside Mega Media Exchange and officers found he had syringes and a tourniquet with blood smeared on it.

Ludwig denied stealing the items and told officers he tried to steal a controller but stopped when he saw an employee watching him.
