Man Steals Suit to Buy Medicine

Milwaukee man caught trying to "lift" a full pinstripe suit tells police he needed to sell it so he could buy medicine.

A Milwaukee man tried to steal a full suit from a Brookfield store so he could sell it to buy medicine, a criminal complaint alleges.

Patrick A. Bradley, 53, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of retail theft. If convicted, he faces up to nine months in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Jan. 9, an employee at Men’s Warehouse spotted Bradley take a full pinstripe suit, then bend over and stuff the suit in his sweatpants. The employee tried to stop Bradley from leaving the store, but was unsuccessful.

Bradley was pulled over a short time later and police spotted the suit on the passenger side floor. He admitted to taking the suit, saying he saw an opportunity to “lift and suit” that he planned to sell and use the proceeds to buy medicine.

He will make his initial appearance in court May 14.
