Watching Sentencing for Standoff Culprit Brings More Hardship for Brookfield Couple

Judge sentences Joseph Dandridge of Milwaukee to 10 years in prison for fatal crash in which his stepson died. Dandridge also faces charges for invading Brookfield home and causing standoff.

A Brookfield couple was threatened Monday in court by a relative of a Milwaukee man who invaded their home after causing a drunken driving crash in which his stepson died.

Joseph Dandridge, 26, of Milwaukee was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday for his role in the crash that killed 8-year-old Donovan Thrash, according to online court records.

Following the Nov. 13 rollover crash on U.S. Highway 45 near W. Burleigh St., Dandrige left the scene and . Dandrige refused to come out of the house and after six hours, officers threw tear gas inside and used a police dog to drag him out, according to the Waukesha County complaint.

The complaint says in addition to excessive blood damage from Dandridge who threatened to slit his wrists, the Mayfair Drive home was damaged from the tear gas rounds lobbed inside.

"Almost every side of the residence had damage," including the front door and most windows, the complaint said. Some exterior siding had holes from the tear gas rounds.

The Brookfield family still has not moved back into the house, but on Monday they were in court to see Dandrige receive his sentence, where they were threatened by the relative, according to a JSOnline.com report. The JSOnline report notes that Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputies arrested the man and plan to seek disorderly conduct charges.

Dandridge still faces charges in Waukesha County Circuit Court for the a lengthy standoff. His sentence in the crash includes five years on extended supervision after his prison term, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Richard Sankovitz ordered.
