On June 4, Silas Gill was pulled over on I-94 near 124th Street in Brookfield by a State Patrol trooper who noticed the license plate on the BMW wasn’t registered to the vehicle. Silas Gill told the trooper she had borrowed the car from her aunt, but was unable to give names or phone numbers to someone who could verify the story.

After further checking, the trooper discovered the car had been reported stolen in March from Reef Auto Brokers, 561 27th St., Caledonia. The business owner said two men had pulled up in a Lexus and stole the car after he left the keys in it on the lot.
