No Bed of Roses: Woman Damns Steins, Police for All Time

Bereft of mid-summer buds, shunned in her attempt to seek lasting floral justice, woman condemns everyone involved to the fiery regions.

What is a rose without thorns? And what hath fury like a woman scorned?

At 12:29 p.m. July 19, Brookfield police were called to Stein Garden & Gift, 14845 W. Capitol Dr., about a customer who was being disorderly.

She had come in, they said, asking that the rose bushes she bought last year be replaced (they had apparently withered in spite her tender care).

Told the store’s plant replacement policy had expired in her case, the 73-year-old woman began to shout at the top of her lungs that God would smite everyone in the place and that they would all go to hell.

She would not leave when asked and would not stop howling that they were all cursed to eternal damnation.

When police arrived and escorted her out of the store and back to her car, an officer noted in his report that she continued to yell and scream, condemning the Brookfield Police Department, telling officers "we were all going to hell, too.”
