OWI Enforcement Wave Nets Six Arrests

Brookfield police arrested six drunken drivers during a weekend OWI enforcement wave.

Brookfield police officers arrested six drunken drivers in a weekend OWI enforcement wave.

"The City of Brookfield Police Department will continue to aggressively enforce violations related to operating an auto while intoxicated in an effort to keep the public safe from the threat of these impaired drivers," the department said in a release this morning.

"We encourage and thank the public for reporting any possible impaired drivers."

The arrests occurred from about 9 p.m. Friday to about 7 p.m. Sunday:

  1. Friday, 9:20 p.m.:Β A Brookfield man, 48, was arrested for 1st offense OWI after driving a Cadillac into a treeΒ at Burleigh Place and Bradee Road. The results of a blood draw were not available.
  2. Saturday, 2:25 a.m.: A Waukesha man, 51, was arrested for 2nd offense OWI after being stopped at Moorland Road and I-94. His preliminary blood-alcohol level was 0.21, or more than twice the state's legal limit of 0.08.
  3. Saturday, 2:25 a.m.: A Brookfield man, 24, was arrested for 1st offense OWI after being stopped at Capitol Drive and Brook Lane. His preliminary blood-alcohol level was 0.14.
  4. Saturday, 3:05 a.m.: A Brookfield man, 42, was arrested for 3rd offense OWI at a traffic stop at Capitol Drive and Pilgrim Road. The results of his blood-alcohol test were not yet available.
  5. Sunday, 5:05 p.m.: A Milwaukee man, 46, was arrested for felony OWI with passengers younger than 16 years old, operation after revocation and open intoxicants. He was stopped at I-94 and Barker Road after police received a call from another motorist. His blood-alcohol results were not yet available.
  6. Sunday, 6:50 p.m.: A Mequon man, 26, was arrested for 3rd offense OWI after a cell phone caller alerted police to the motorist at Blue Mound Road at Sunnyslope Road. His blood-alcohol results were not yet available.
