Two Brookfield residents unharmed in a weekend crash in Bayside.

Two Brookfield residents were in a car that was struck by an alleged drunken driver in Bayside in a weekend crash, police reports say.

A 31-year-old man and 29-year-old woman, both from Brookfield, told Bayside police they were OK, even though the passenger door and window were smashed.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Pewaukee woman, 29, was arrested for drunken driving.

According to Bayside police:

Officers received a call to the 400 block of West Brown Deer Road at 11:10 p.m. Friday and found two vehicles near First Star Bank. The first vehicle had two wheels on the sidewalk and two on the roadway. The driver, the Pewaukee woman, was talking on a cell phone.

The officer asked her if everything was OK, and she replied that she had just been in an accident, pointed to another vehicle parked about 60 feet ahead and said that car “just hit me.” She was not hurt, but when she spoke, officers said her speech was slurred and her eyes were glassy and red.

The officer walked over to the other vehicle and he could see that the passenger door and window was smashed.

The passenger — the 29-year-old Brookfield woman — said they were headed north on North Port Washington Road, and were turning west onto Brown Deer Road. While they were turning, a car "came out of nowhere" and smashed into the passenger side of their car.

The officer went back to first vehicle, with two of four wheels on the curb. He smelled alcohol and advised the woman that he was going to conduct a field sobriety test. She passed some of the sobriety tests, but when she was asked to touch her nose, she could only reach her upper lip.

She was arrested for operating while under the influence. During the 20-minute observation period at the police station, the officer noticed that it appeared the offender had urinated on herself, because both the front and back of her pants were wet. She performed a breathalyzer test, resulting in a blood alcohol content of 0.17.
