Plea Deal Reached for Brookfield Homicide Suspect

Tommy Douyette plans to change his not guilty plea and cancel his Jan. 30 jury trial in the murder of Brookfield businessman John Aegerter.

One of two people charged in the murder of Brookfield businessman John Aegerter plans to change his guilty plea and drop his jury trial.

Attorneys for Tommy V. Douyette, 42, had planned to argue at a motion hearing this week that he should be tried separately from co-defendant Lynn Hajny, 49.

But online court records show attorneys asked Waukesha County Circuit Judge Patrick Haughney to remove the Jan. 30 jury trial for Douyette and schedule a change of plea.

According to a JSOnline.com report, the Waukesha County prosecutor involved would not comment on the expected plea deal.

Aegerter, 53, was found dead in his Brookfield garage June 22, his ankles and neck bound with electrical cords, his face duct-taped and several plastic grocery bags over his head.

A criminal complaint says the two suspects confronted Aegerter over money they claimed he owed to Hajny's husband who worked for one of Aegerter's radio communications businesses.

Hajny still is scheduled to go to trial in February.
