Police Report: Cat Stuck in Sewer, Bar Fights and Driver Waving Gun

A cat was reported stuck in a sewer drain in the 16700 block of Rosewood Court, but the feline was no where to be found.

Fire Department crews lifted a sewer grate above a stormwater inlet basin about 10 a.m. Saturday but found no cat.

"It more than likely went down one of several laterals leading out of the basin and found its own way out," fire reports said.

In other recent calls to police and fire:

Suspicious activity at Sikh Temple: Officers found someone at the Sikh Temple on Calhoun Road about 1 a.m. Sunday. It was a contractor installing a surveillance system.

Huge fire: An officer saw a "huge fire"with 20-foot tall flames and accelerant used in the backyard of a home in the 16600 block of Gebhardt Road about 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Fire officials investigated and determined it was a large but controlled burn and there was no violation.

iPhone stolen at school: A Brookfield East High School student reported an iPhone and $20 stolen from an unattended backpack at school Friday.

Pawning stolen saxophone: Cream City Music employees told police a 21-year-old man tried to sell a stolen saxophone to the store, 12505 W. Bluemound Rd. shortly before noon Friday. The musical instrument had been stolen from a locked vehicle in a Bayshore mall parking garage the day before, Glendale police said. The man was charged with felony received stolen property.

Hooters fight: Police were called to Hooters for a report that "punches have been thrown" in a fight between two men in an outdoor smoking patio about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 13. But when police arrived, the men were gone and no one could identify them.

Bougey's fight: A 32-year-old woman was cited for municipal disorderly conduct after police were called to a fight outside Bougey's, 16760 W. Greenfield Ave., about 11 p.m. Sept. 13. An argument that turned physical had ended by the time police arrived.

Public urination: Two men hopped out of taupe four-door sedan about 6 p.m. Sept. 13 and urinated on a tree in the North 161st Street yard of an elderly man who was out of town. A neighbor came out and asked the men what they were doing and they said "going to the bathroom" before getting back in the car and driving off.

Smash and grab: The side windows of two vehicles parked at 14430 W. Greenfield Ave. were broken and purses stolen from the front seats between 1:30 and 3 p.m. Sept. 13. Stolen credit cards were used illegally at Target, Oscars and Speedway.

TJ Maxx theft of more than $500: A man ran out of TJ Maxx, 12575 W. Capitol Dr., with $572.86 in merchandise at 10:11 a.m. Sept. 13, the store told police. He fled in a brown SUV.

Burglary of golf clubs, more: Someone entered an unlocked garage on Ashbourne Lane and stole $1,700 in golf clubs, a $600 Trek bike, $230 flat-screen television, $160 Nike rain suit, $120 golf bag and $90 wireless printer. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 11 and 13.

Hotel guests complain of noise: An employee at Country Inn & Suites called police to say hotel guests were complaining about jackhammers operating at the adjacent Outback Steakhouse, 1260 S. Moorland Rd. Outback crews said they had permission from hotel management to work overnight, but police advised both businesses of the city's noise ordinance restricting such late-night work.

Alcohol stolen: A group of two men and two women stole 10 bottles of alcohol from the Pick 'n Save at 12735 W. Capitol Dr. and fled in a gold Oldsmobile, heading east about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 12. Police were unable to find the car.

Smash and grab: Someone smashed the rear passenger window of a car parked at Mitchell Park across from the Elmbrook Little League complex between 9 and 10 a.m. Sept. 12. Taken was a purse under the seat, and credit cards were used at numerous stores in West Allis.

Driver displays handgun: A motorist called police about 8:30 a.m. Sept. 12 to report a driver in a black Toyota Corolla had displayed a gun on eastbound I-94. The caller said the other driver had tailgated him, honking his horn and waving his arms before passing the caller's vehicle and showing a gun.

Illegal dumping: An Elmbrook Schools facility director said Sept. 12 he found materials dumped for two days in a Dumpster by Burleigh Elementary School. The documents identified the owner, a 63-year-old Brookfield man who apologized and reimbursed the school district for the extra dumping charges.

Dead raccoon as prank? A Lone Oak Lane resident said she believed someone intentionally threw a garbage bag with a dead raccoon in her yard. She told police Sept. 7 she would discard the carcass in her next trash collection.

Gas leak: After a power outage was reported at Bed, Bath & Beyond about 1 a.m. Sept. 12, WE Energies discovered an underground gas leak behind Buy, Buy Baby. The leak was repaired and buidings including World Market were ventilated.

Elusive chihuahua: A wandering chihuahua that authorities have been trying to capture for a month was seen sleeping under a tree on the west side of North 124th Street south of Capitol Drive about 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11. But by the time the Elmbrook Humane Society arrived, the "very fast and elusive" chihuahua was gone. Shelter officials said next time they will try to use a dart gun or trap.

Strange citation: A 57-year-old Brookfield woman told police she got a citation in the mail that was titled "bitch citation" and called her expletives. The Lake Road woman said she had no idea who sent the note that was postmarked in Milwaukee.
