Police Report: Accidents, Intoxication, Theft and Other Problems

The following items are brief summaries from local police and fire department reports from Thursday and Friday, August 18 and 19.

Pedestrian hit by car: A pedestrian was hit by a SUV in the parking lot of Kohl’s, 2315 N. 124th St., Thursday just before 6 p.m. The 47-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Lost or Stolen

  • A man reported the loss of $2900 Thursday evening after a bank envelope containing the money fell out of his pocket sometime between 5 and 6 p.m. while he was at Highlander Elite, 13825 W. Burleigh St.
  • An iPod was stolen from a car sometime between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday while parked in the Brookfield Square parking lot.

Intoxicated behavior

  • Police found fishing line stretched across Elm Grove Road near Tremont Street in the early hours of Thursday morning after responding to a call of suspicious behavior by two men in their early 20’s, one of whom was yelling he was intoxicated. Police were unable to locate the suspects but removed the fishing line.
  • A lost and intoxicated a man was given a ride to his mother’s home by police after the man approached a delivery truck driver in the parking lot of Grasch’s Food, 13950 W. North Ave., at 4:25 a.m. and asked to use his cellphone.

Damage to property

  • A car was keyed in the 18700 block of Bluemound Road Friday and the car’s owner suspects co-workers, against whom she has temporary restraining orders.
  • A mailbox was damaged after being hit by a maroon car in the 4700 block of North 135th Street Friday evening. Police were unable to locate the car.

Animal concern: Police warned a woman about the hazards of leaving an animal locked in a hot car after the woman had left her dog in the car while shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond Thursday afternoon.

Too young to drive: Police advised and counseled the father of a 14-year-old boy about traffic laws after the boy was seen driving his mom’s minivan in the 1100 block of South Bobolink Drive Thursday evening.

Speeding motorcycle: A resident in the area of West Glendale and Lilly roads complained to police on Thursday and Friday that they have an ongoing problem with a red sport motorcycle speeding through the area. Police spoke to a parent of the suspected cyclist, who said their son had not ridden his bike recently but they would advise him of the concern.

Car fire: The Fire Department extinguished a car fire in the 700 block of Rosewood Court 6 a.m. Friday morning. The car, which was a total loss, was owned by the visitor to the house, who said he hadn’t driven it since 10 p.m. the night before.

Gross: A 49-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was observed urinating behind a storage facility in the 4200 block of North 127th Street Friday evening.

Just “Itchy”: A caller to police was concerned about a man who was acting strangely, talking to himself and taking off his shirt and putting it back on in the parking lot of the 12700 block of West Capitol Drive Thursday evening. However, the man told police he was merely itchy after his hair cut and was waiting for his ride.

Unwelcome advances: A husband called police because his wife, after shopping at Brookfield Square Thursday evening, found a note on her windshield saying she was beautiful and asking her to meet for coffee. Police advised the man to have his wife be alert for suspicious behavior.

Please note that in all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is only an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
