A student apologized after school officials learned Thursday that he had ammunition in his parked car on school grounds, police reports say.

The 16-year-old boy said it was his deer hunting ammunition that he forgot was in the back seat. There was no weapon in the car and police took the 33 rounds of rifle ammunition, calling the boy's mother to pick it up at the police station.

There also was a clip or magazine for an imitation air soft gun, which was not in the vehicle. The school planned to investigate appropriate disciplinary action, report said.
