Police Report: Pit Bull Bite, Counterfeit Cash and Craigslist Fraud

The latest police reports include a pit bull attack on a man who initially declined medical attention but later went to hospital for her wounds.

A pit bull charged and bit a Hartland man in his back and leg, but the man told police the wounds were not serious, police reports say.

The man was inside a friend's home in the 12900 block of Oriole Lane when the dog charged at him at 8 p.m. Wednesday, he told police. At first the man declined medical attention, saying there was just a little bleeding but later he decided to drive himself to a hospital to have the wounds checked out, according to reports.

The dog belonged to his friend's grandchildren. Police notified the Elmbrook Humane Society about the bite.

What not to do when you lock your keys in the car? Coopers Hawk Winery called police when they saw two men using bricks to break into a vehicle parked near the store at Brookfield Square mall about 10 p.m. Thursday. It turned out the men had locked their keys in their car and took a paving brick to smash the rear window. They were laughing and had asked a restaurant hostess for ideas before choosing to break the window, get in and drive off.

Craigslist complaint: A Simon Drive man said he sent $800 to a Craigslist seller for a MacBook Pro laptop but never received the computer. He told police Thursday that he paid via pre-paid PayPal cards and the money was withdrawn in Maine. Officers recommended he contact the Maine police, as well as the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

Found property: A bike with an American flag taped to it was found outside after July 4. Also, a scooter was found in the front yard of a home in the 4500 block of Cherokee Drive on Tuesday. Both were being held at the police station, 2100 N. Calhoun Road.

Facebook hacked: A Helene Drive man said he received an e-mail from Facebook saying his account had been compromised and was hacked. The man had a suspect in mind and wanted police detectives to investigate.

Counterfeit cash: Three fake $100 bills printed off $5 bills with the same serial number were passed Thursday at , 2005 N. Calhoun Road. It's the second recent case of counterfeit bills in Brookfield, after a .

Clothes floating in Deer Creek: A woman said her children were walking near Deer Creek off Manor Court Wednesday evening when they saw men's clothing and underwear floating in the water. Along the shore they saw a towel, jacket and beer cans. Police searched the area but found no one and no identification with the clothing.

Worshipping too loud? , 4470 Pilgrim Rd., turned down the music on their outdoor speakers about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving complaints about excessive noise. Church members said they would move their weekly Wednesday evening Kids Fest event to a new outdoor location on their site to minimize noise issues.

Theft of $20,000 in materials: Cook Auto Supply, 3590 N. 126th St., reported that sometime between July 1 and Wednesday, someone stole a 16-foot cargo trailer and its contents, worth about $20,000. Among the items inside the trailer were a lawnmower, chain saws, blowers and hedge trimmers.

Business burglarized: Police responding to a burglary alarm at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday at Gehl Flooring, 4547 N. 128th St., found a front window broken and some machines taken. Officers were investigating.

Train gate problems: Train gates at North Avenue and Pilgrim Parkway were malfunctioning — going up and down without any trains in sight — after 9 a.m. Tuesday. CP Rail engineers were called to fix the problem.

Lewd calls: A Royalcrest Drive woman said she had received two phone calls in which a male "moans and groans" in a sexual manner from a number listed as "unavailable." The woman called police Tuesday to say she wasn't threatened by the calls but wanted them to stop. Officers advised her to contact her cellular provider to block unavailable calls.
