Police Say Man Engaged in Lewd Behavior Outside Store

Brookfield police have recommended charges be filed against a man exposing himself outside a shopping center.

Brookfield police are recommending charges be filed against a man customers say was exposing himself in the Brookfield Fashion Center.

The 37-year-old Watertown man has a 1996 conviction for misdemeanor lewd and lacivious behavior, according to online state circuit court records.

Brookfield police were called to the shopping center at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man exposing himself while sitting on an outdoor bench between the and businesses, 16970 W. Blue Mound Road.

The man was not wearing underwear beneath his white sports shorts and was sitting with his legs "wide open," exposing his genitals, customers said. Shoppers said he was "looking at them weirdly," according to the report.

After driving past in an unmarked square car, police arrested, booked and released the man, referring the case for possible lewd and lacivious charges to the Waukesha County District Attorney's office.
