Resident Admits He Was Too Impaired to Drive
Stopped by Wauwatosa police, driver acknowledges he'd been drinking some beer, but at first fails to note that it was double-strength brew.
A Brookfield man made no bones about his ability to drive safely and legally after being stopped by Wauwatosa police Wednesday night. He said he'd had only four beers, but then admitted they were really strong beers.
At 11:54 p.m., the 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, first offense, after a Tosa patrol officer saw him stop and then go through a solid red light on North 68th Street at Blue Mound Road.
The officer followed him onto I-94 and saw him swerving out of his lane, and pulled him over on the 84th Street off-ramp.

The driver admitted drinking four beers much earlier with some friends. But he performed poorly on sobriety tests, and then when asked again how much he’d been drinking, he again said he’d had four beers, but this time said it was at Café Hollander in Tosa Village, and that the beers had all been “like, 10 percent alcohol.”
When asked if he thought he was able to drive, he said, “Realistically, I would tell you guys flat out, no, I wasn’t.”

No, he wasn't. He blew a .15 blood alcohol concentration, just shy of double the proscribed limit to drive in Wisconsin.
