Services Set for Town of Brookfield Officer Who Died Saturday

Funeral services are scheduled for later this week for Donald Bishop, who died on duty over the weekend.

Funeral services for a Town of Brookfield police officer who died on duty of an apparent heart attack will be held on Thursday. 

Donald Bishop, 32, died Saturday morning while responding to a burglary call. Although the official cause of death has not been released, officials believe Bishop had a heart attack.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Parish located at S38-W31602 Wern Way in Genesee Depot.

Another public visition will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Parish, and the funeral will follow at noon Thursday. After the funeral, a law enforcement procession will travel from St. Paul Parish to St. Joseph Cemetery located at S22-W22890 Broadway Ave. in Waukesha.

Bishop, who was alone in his police squad car, drove off the road while responding to the burglary call, according to the Journal Sentinel.

Bishop joined the Town of Brookfield Police Department in August 2011, and previously worked with the village of Eagle Police Department, Waukesha County Communications Center, city of Oconomowoc Communication Center, village of Mukwonago Police Department and village of North Prairie Fire Department, according to Patch's media partners, WISN 12 News.
