Sorry, Officer, But This Speaker Goes to 11

Officers investigating a neighbor's complaint about loud music get an honest answer from the offender.

Loud music complaints are typical, especially in summer, when residents call Brookfield police about boisterous pool parties and loud fireworks.

Officers responded to one such call about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 15500 block of Carpenter Road. They found — and heard — music being played at a reasonable level in a garage.

But the resident confessed he had pushed noise limits earlier.

The reason: he had bought a new stereo system and was "testing" the volume to see how loud it could go.

Apparently like Spinal Tap, his speakers went to 11.

Officers warned him to keep it down.
