Town of Brookfield police issued 92 tickets for failure to fasten seat belts in annual public safety campaign.

The Town of Brookfield police issued municipal tickets for 92 people who failed to fasten their seat belts during a national public safety campaign.

Dubbed "Click It or Ticket," the aims to raise awareness of the importance of wearing seat belts to prevent crashes from turning fatal.Β 

Brookfield police joined more than 300 law enforcement agencies nationwide in the seat belt campaign.

In the town, police said Friday that officers issued 92 tickets for failure to fasten seat belts, plus citations for 32 speeding violations and 10 operating after revocation violations. During traffic stops officers also identified four warrants for arrest.

"Our goal during Click It or Ticket and for the rest of the year is not to write more tickets but to convince drivers and passengers to buckle up every trip, every time," said the release by Police Chief Chris Perket.
