Woman Charged With Passing Fake Checks At JC Penney's
Police say the woman illegally purchased items at Brookfield Square, then took them to Southridge Mall to return them for cash.
A woman is facing charges after she allegedly passed bad checks at the Brookfield Square mall and then took the items she purchased and returned them to another store at Southridge Mall in Greendale.
Sarah A. Hawkins, 29, of Milwaukee, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court last week with four counts of uttering a forgery and two counts of bail jumping.

On July 21 and 24, Hawkins used fraudulent checks to buy hundreds of dollars in merchandise at ’s in Brookfield. The store discovered the transactions were fraudulent after Hawkins used the same checks with different routing numbers on the bottom.
After further investigation, officers discovered Hawkins took some of the merchandise she bought with the fraudulent checks to the Greendale ’s location where she returned the items for cash.

Police were able to make phone contact with Hawkins, who refused to come into the police station and laughed when told she was picked out of a photo lineup, saying she didn’t believe the officers. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.
