Woman Charged With Stealing Checks from Town of Brookfield Man

A Pewaukee woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing checks from a Town of Brookfield man and cashing them.

Gina M. Bombaci, 25, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with three counts of uttering a forgery and one count of misdemeanor theft. If convicted, she faces up to 18 years in prison and $40,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Bombaci had stolen the checks from the man she had been staying with and cashed them on three separate occasions in order to obtain a total of $340.

When confronted about the theft, the complaint alleged Bombaci admitted to taking the checks, saying she needed the money to pay off an old drug dealer.

She will make her initial appearance in court June 29.
