Woman Charged With Stealing Jewelry From Brookfield Home

Victim found some of her stolen items inside a bag and purse owned by the suspect, charges allege.

A Milwaukee woman stole more than $5,000 in jewelry from a Brookfield home, a criminal complaint alleges.

Janina S. Werner, 18, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of theft of moveable property valued at more than $5,000.

The victim was looking for a set of earrings in her home located in the 16100 block of Cumberland Court when she noticed all of her gold jewelry was missing. She suspected Werner who is a friend of her son.

On Sept. 23, the victim told police she found some of the missing jewelry inside a bag and purse owned by Werner. A friend of Werner’s also told police he had sold most of the items to Midwest Gold Buyers for Werner because she wasn’t 18 and wasn’t allowed to sell gold.

Werner will make her initial appearance in court Jan. 23.
