Woman Charged with Stealing More than $30k from Brookfield Business

Suspect obtained a company credit card in her name while working as the bookkeeper at Mailwaukee Mailing Equipment.

A West Allis woman is facing charges after she allegedly defrauded more than $30,000 from Mailwaukee Mailing Equipment while she worked as a bookkeeper there.

According to the criminal complaint, Nicole D. Buchert was able to get a company credit card with her name on it and used the card to pay for thousands of dollars worth of goods between August 2010 and January 2011 and sell some of them in order to buy drugs.

Buchert made $11,620 in cash advances with the card as well in order to purchase cocaine and because she needed money to pay for car repairs and other items, which then caused things to “get out of control,” according to the complaint.

Buchert is charged with one count of theft of more than $10,000 from a business setting, one count of identity theft and one count of fraudulent use of a credit card. If convicted, she faces up to 26 years in prison and $60,000 in fines.
