Lakic took three items to the counter on June 3 at The Vitamin Shoppe, 15455 W. Blue Mound Rd. While the cashier was ringing him up, he put his hands in his pocket and demanded money. The employee asked him if he was robbing him and Lakic said he was.
The clerk tried to tell Lakic he didn’t have any money, but Lakic again said to give him money. The employee warned Lakic there was another customer in the store with a little girl. Lakic said he also had a daughter and then said “never mind” and walked out of the store.

Another employee watched Lakic walk to his car and reported the license plate number to police.
Lakic’s wife told officers her husband has issues with alcohol and on the night of the incident, he left the Park Motel where they live and he was found passed out in the truck later that night. Lakic said he was so drunk the day of the incident he doesn’t remember what happened.
