APS Healthcare Plans to Lay Off 133 Workers

The Brookfield health care program management company will eliminate the jobs between mid-October and June 2013, the state announced Friday.

APS Healthcare, which has a Brookfield office, plans to lay off 133 employee following its acquisition by Universal American earlier this year, the state announced Friday.

The pink slips will start in mid-October and run through June 2013, the company told the state Department of Workforce Development. The Brookfield office is at 300 N. Executive Dr.

APS Healthcare is headquartered in White Plains, NY, with 2011 revenues of more than $300 million. Its services include disease management and care coordination, clinical quality and utilization review, and behavioral health.

The Workforce Development's Dislocated Worker Program will provide services to affected employees. Under state law, employers employing 50 or more people may be required to give 60 days notice before a mass layoff or closing.
