Bike Path Construction Begins on Brookfield, Burleigh Roads

Construction is underway and scheduled to end Aug. 31.

Construction of two new bike paths in Brookfield is underway, set to be finished by Aug. 31.

The first path runs along Brookfield Road from North to Milwaukee avenues, and the second runs along Burleigh Road from Brookfield Road to Marti Lane, according to city official Jennifer Stilling.

"It's going to be an off-road pedestrian path way, it's not like a designated … shoulder," she said.

The paths are an extension of existing trails, and part of the city's longterm goals to have bike paths running along the city's roadways, Stilling said. The path on Brookfield Road also offers a connection to Brookfield's village area.

The paths are 6-feet wide. Detailed plans are available on the city's website
