Brookfield Delivers 17K votes for Romney / Ryan

Romney garnered 68 percent of the vote in Brookfield, with a citywide turnout of 89 percent.

Despite a big get-out-the-vote push by both Republicans and Democrats in Waukesha County, Brookfield added about 2 percent or nearly 500 more total votes than it did four years ago.

Mitt Romney on Tuesday got nearly 1,200 more votes than John McCain got from the City of Brookfield, while Barack Obama received about 660 fewer votes Tuesday in Brookfield than he received in 2008. (See chart below on presidential voting history.)

Turnout Tuesday in the City of Brookfield was 89.2 percent — virtually the same as the 89 percent in the 2008 McCain-Obama presidential race. In raw numbers, Brookfield residents on Tuesday cast 25,664 votes for president, nearly 500 more than the 25,196 ballots cast in 2008, according to city records.

Other communities, however, saw a greater percentage increase in turnout. In Whitefish Bay, turnout was 92.5 percent, up from 89 percent. In Menomonee Falls, 93.6 percent of the village's 24,355 registered voters cast ballots, up from 2008.

On Tuesday, Brookfield residents gave the Mitt Romney / Paul Ryan ticket 17,426 votes or about 68 percent of the total votes cast. Barack Obama and Joe Biden received 8,041 city votes or 31 percent, with one percent for third party and scattering votes.

Brookfield city residents gave Romney more votes (17,426) than they did for John McCain in 2008 against Obama (16,233), but not as many as they gave George Bush in 2004 against John Kerry (17,628).

I listened to a very, very interesting interview on NPR (1st link) by Michael Lewis who spent 6 months interviewing and shadowing President Obama. Even the president said he was shocked at the roadblocks put up/tactics employed by opposing interests every time an initiative was put forth. DEFINITELY worth listening to for a true or as true as possible insight of what President Obama is faced with in office.

Over the past several years, there have been several youth from throughout the world who haveRead More attended high school for one academic year in the Elmbrook School District through the Rotary youth exchange program. It is a tremendous opportunity for growth by the young adult, as well as the host family! If you have even the slightest bit of interest, I'd encourage you to contact Bill Petterson from the Elmbrook Rotary. It's a long-standing international program with many checks and balances so the experience is beneficial for all concerned.

We hosted a high school girl from Thailand three years ago and we continue that friendship with herRead More and her family. Not only do you, as a host family give a young person from another country a better understanding of America and Americans, but you learn about the perspectives and viewpoints of people from a totally different culture. It opens up our world view. If you have never hosted, do it!

I believe your first 4 words. After that your credibilty dramatically falls off. The only "beatRead More down" received was by the middle & low income class of Wisconsinites. "As governor, I will sign legislation to prohibit the members of the State Legislature from voting after 10:00 at night or before 9:00 in the morning. This commonsense reform ensures the public has the opportunity to contact elected representatives about their votes on any pending legislation important to them. I have two teenagers and I tell them that nothing good happens after midnight. That's even more true in politics. The people of Wisconsin deserve to know what their elected leaders are voting on." --Scott Walker
