Brookfield Unemployment Rate Rises to 6.7 Percent

The rate remains below that of the Wisconsin unemployment rate, but Brookfield's number has climbed each of the last two months.

Brookfield’s estimated unemployment rate in February was 27th of 32 Wisconsin municipalities with at least 25,000 people, according to statistics released Wednesday by the Department of Workforce Development.

The rate of 6.7 is up slightly from the 6.5 in January, and also up from 6.1 percent the previous February. Numbers are not seasonally adjusted.

According to a release from the state, this data is compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics based on Unemployment Insurance claims and a monthly survey of 1,450 Wisconsin households (0.06 percent), called the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS).
