Turnout in the City of Brookfield was 53 percent, the second-highest in the past decade of spring general elections. The only one higher was in 2007 when 56 percent of registered voters went to the polls to defeat the first of two Elmbrook referendums to renovate and expand Brookfield Central and East high schools.

Turnout in the Town of Brookfield was about 41 percent, or more than double the typical 15 to 20 percent turnout for spring general elections.

Moe is a lifelong educator and education administrator, serving as superintendent of the Brown Deer school district for 17 years before heading other districts, starting a superintendent search firm and teaching at local universities.

Brunner is retired and formerly was assistant bursar at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and finance manager for Waukesha County. He also served as a city alderman for eight years but then lost two bids to return to the Common Council.

The Elmbrook School District did not have a final spreadsheet of votes, which come from the City and Town of Brookfield, Village of Elm Grove and a small part of New Berlin.

In the Town of Brookfield, Brunner had 157 votes and Moe had 115. In New Berlin, Moe had 115 votes, slightly more than Brunner's 105. Elm Grove results were not available.
