Clean As A Whistle: City Reports No Sewage Backups For 2012

Report does not include private lateral problems that may have contributed to basement backups in certain homes during the year.

The City of Brookfield reported no sewer problems for last year in an annual sanitary overflow report released last week.

The city said that it did not experience any sanitary sewer overflows or basement backups due to sewer backup in 2012.

"It should be noted that some private lateral problems (e.g. roots) may have contributed to basement backups in certain homes, but they were not from City sewers," the city said on its site.

The percentage of water captured and treated by the city in 2012 was 100 percent.
