Funeral Home, Crematory Earn Public Hearing Monday

The public can offer input at Monday night's Plan Commission meeting on Krause Funeral Home's request to build its fourth Milwaukee location in Brookfield.

A request by Krause Funeral Home to build its fourth Milwaukee location in western Brookfield will be reviewed by the city Plan Commission Monday, according to BrookfieldNOW.com.

Krause officials unveiled the proposal and its details last summer and commissioners urged consultants to be a little bolder with their proposed architecture for the site, .

A public hearing will be held at Monday's meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at , 2000 N. Calhoun Rd.

The 4-acre site is located at 21600 W. Capitol Dr. between Capitol Drive and Gumina Road near the Capitol Airport. It's across from the Gateway West Commerce Center.

Mark Krause, president of the family-owned business founded in 1933, told Brookfield plan commissioners at that time he has lived in Brookfield for 45 years and was excited to open a location there. The company has two Milwaukee locations and one New Berlin location.

The Brookfield facility was proposed to include funeral spaces, a crematory, a chapel, a banquet hall for post-funeral luncheons and refreshments (with license to serve beer and wine if requested) and an outdoor patio.
