Election Preview: Wisconsin 14th State Assembly District

An engineer, Chris Rockwood, is taking on the Republican incumbent, Dale Kooyenga.

Incumbent and U.S. Army veteran Dale Kooyenga is facing a challenge in the 14th Assembly District from a technical marketing engineer.

Democrat Chris Rockwood, 47, of Wauwatosa, is challenging Republican Kooyenga. He has worked in the engineering field for 25 years.

Kooyenga, 33, of Brookfield, is an accountant. In 2008, he served in the military in Iraq and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was first elected to the State Assembly in 2010.

The 14th District seat has new boundaries this year in the wake of redistricting prompted by population shifts in the 2010 census. The 14th Assembly District now encompasses parts of Brookfield and Wauwatosa.

Wisconsin state representatives serve two-year terms and earn $49,943 annually. They also receive a per diem of $88 per day for each day they work in Madison.
