Greenway Trail Might Have a New Section Built Soon

The Park and Recreation Commission accepted a bid that will include a 3,400 feet off-road asphalt trail.

The Brookfield Parks and Recreation Commission accepted a bid last week to move on to the next phase of the Greenway Trail plan, reported Brookfield Now.

The Common Council must approve the bid; its next regularly scheduled meeting is March 19.

The Greenway Trail System is designed to connect parks, both existing and planned. In December, the commission approved the plans on a preliminary basis, with the proposed trail alignment to be shifted further south and adjacent to the Deer Creek within the Ruby Park area. Plans include an adjustment with a final trail length of 3,400 linear feet and include a significant portion constructed on top of an existing gravel trail in Brookfield Manor Park.

The entire plan will be finished in five to 10 years and eventually cover 39 miles, reported Brookfield Now.
