Public Hearing to be Held for Rezoning for 20-Bed Assisted Living Facility

Current zoning would not allow facility at Woelfel Road and Wisconsin Avenue.

A public hearing will be held on a possible rezoning to allow a proposed 20-bed assisted-living development at the southwest corner of Woelfel and Wisconsin Avenue.

The town’s Plan Commission made a recommendation to schedule a joint Plan Commission and public hearing for consideration of a planned unit development zoning district overlay for the area since current zoning wouldn’t allow the proposed density of the project, said Gary Lake, town building and zoning administrator.

The Town Board will set the date of the public hearing at its next meeting on Sept. 6.

The development is proposed by JPS Limited of Hartford. Company manager Jay Schnorenberg said the development would be a memory-care facility for those with dementia. He is hoping to break ground on the development this fall, depending zoning and other approval, for opening this spring.
