The Week Ahead: Coming Up in Brookfield
Plan Commission meets; informal topics group Brookfield Brew holds quarterly meeting; and high schools hold fundraisers.
The Brookfield Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.
Among items on the agenda is a request by Sutter Creek LLC to repeal an ordinance permitting landfill operations at 1300 S. Barker Rd. and allowing a conditional use for a 144-unit residential development.
The commission will also discuss a proposal by Ald. Daniel Sutton for a city code amendment to allow greenhouses on residential properties.

The quarterly meeting of Brookfield Brew is from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brookfield Pubic Library. The informal group offers "Java for you to drink and discussions to make you think," open to all who enjoy discussing a wide range of topics. Light refreshments will be served. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every third month.
Elmbrook Schools will have a half day for all students Wednesday, with classes meeting only in the morning. Teachers will have a work day in the afternoon.

Brookfield East High School and Brookfield East 2010 and Beyond will host Diamond Casino Night from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Highlander, 13825 W. Burleigh Rd. Tickets are $35 with registration available online.
BE 2010 and Beyond, in its 15th year, invests in facilities and activities at the school. Casino Night is in its third year.
This year's funds are going toward finishing the baseball field project and then starting the revitalization of the softball fields. Additionally, BE 2010 and Beyond has contributed or will be contributing toward the Spartanettes' trip to Florida and some needs of the band.
All day Wednesday, visit Friday's at 17430 Blue Mound Rd. and 25 percent of your bill will go to Brookfield Central High School DECA Team. DECA prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
