Boston Store Files Fourth Lawsuit Against City of Brookfield
The city is being sued because Bonstores Realty claims that they were assessed $8 million more than what the property is worth.
The City of Brookfield is being sued by the owner of Boston Store at Brookfield Square for excessive assessment and a refund, reported Brookfield Now.
This is the fourth year in which Bonstores Realty files a claim against the City of Brookfield regarding assessments.
The city assessed the property for $23.6 million in 2012, however, Bonstores Realty appealed the assessment claiming that the property is worth $15.7 million, according to a copy of the claim.

Bonstores paid the first installment, under protest, of the bill for the amount of $195,618.
The Board of Review denied the appeal. A claim was filed soon after and also denied by the Common Council on February 19, reported Brookfield Now.

The other claims are currently in litigation in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
A trial was scheduled in March but was delayed at the request of Bonstores due to unavailability of one of their key witnesses.
