New Berlin Walmart Plan Advances Despite Opposition

A large number of people showed up at the meeting to oppose the proposed Walmart that would be built on Greenfield Avenue.

The New Berlin Planning Commission voted to recommend changing zoning from residential to commercial for a proposed Walmart Super Center on Greenfield Avenue, according to a video from the City of New Berlin.

The neighboring proposed Walmart development would occupy a 15 acre site located at 15205 and 15375 W. Greenfield Ave.

The Planning Commission approved the recommendation despite the presence of over 100  people opposed to the big-box store.

People expressed concerns about garbage, traffic safety, the nearby cemetary, crime rate and the 24-hour lighting and noise.

Right now there are two single-family homes on the site and one would be razed to put another business, said Walmart officials who have an agreement with the owner of the home.
