Three Brookfield Homes and One Elm Grove Home To Be Part of 14th Annual Milwaukee/NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes

Four of the 14 recently remodeled homes on the Milwaukee/NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes (May 18-19) are located in Brookfield and Elm Grove.

Brookfield and Elm Grove residents will have an opportunity to “Explore Remodeling’s Finest” at the 14th annual Milwaukee/NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes, Sat., May 18 – Sun., May 19, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily.

The Tour of Remodeled Homes is produced by the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc., and sponsored by Kohler Co. in conjunction with First Supply, and by VerHalen, The Pella Window Store. The event will allow attendees to view 14 recently completed remodeling and home improvement projects from Milwaukee/NARI contractors at homes throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

The Tour of Remodeled Homes will feature the following three renovation projects in Brookfield, and one in Elm Grove:

Dimension Design, Build, Remodel, Inc.: Master Bath Remodel • 18970 Brookridge Drive, Brookfield
The client wanted to transform their master bathroom into a more modern, yet traditional space that improved functionality, design, and comfort with additional modern amenities. From a space-planning standpoint, the client desired privacy separation between the toilet and shower area and from the sink/tub area to allow for multiple users of the space simultaneously. To solve this, a wall was created at an angle with an archway to help define these separate zones and add an element of unique character to the bathroom. The oversized tub was replaced with a claw foot tub, installed at an angle with a corner-tiled deck behind it. A new custom stained maple vanity was designed with twin storage towers to reduce clutter. Added amenities include a steam shower with showerhead that pipes music into the shower from the mp3 player. Finish materials include porcelain tile with glass accent tiles, granite countertops, undermount sinks, and polished chrome Kohler faucets and hardware.

Joseph Douglas Homes and Remodeling LLC: Whole House Remodel • 2485 Lionel Court, Brookfield
Over the course of this project, the entire first floor of this two-story home was renovated, including major alterations to the floor plan to improve traffic flow. The renovation allowed for the kitchen to be open to the eating and living areas of the home. Further, the expanded kitchen now features a walk-in-pantry, an oversized island, and a peninsula that greatly increased storage and workspace areas.

Refined Renovations LLC: Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel • 20835 Saxon Court, Brookfield
The customer’s goal was to have a kitchen with a strong aesthetic appeal and optimal functionality, in an environment safe for children, while still welcoming to guests. They also requested a new garage entry to the house, plus a remodel to their first floor bathroom to have it flow seamlessly with their kitchen. The kitchen remodel added square footage to the house, with custom cabinetry, granite countertops with Vetrazzo recycled glass, and a ceramic backsplash with glass and stone accents. The bathroom features granite countertops, with a Kohler Demi Lav sink and wall faucet, while the new garage entry features a home organization center.

Callen Construction, Inc.: Kitchen Remodel • 13120 Wrayburn Road, Elm Grove
This home was originally built with a strong Frank Lloyd Wright influence, and the homeowners purchased the home because of their love of this style and its clean, straightforward lines and use of natural materials. When it came time to upgrade the kitchen and other parts of the home, it was most important to embrace and enhance the style throughout the project. This phase of the home’s upgrade not only included a complete kitchen remodel, but also minor upgrades to the master bath and powder room. A new patio door was also added from the master bedroom to a side yard garden.

An added attraction for the 2013 Tour of Remodeled Homes is an opportunity to win a house full of faucets from the Kohler Co., which will include a new bathroom and kitchen faucets valued at more than $1,000. Patrons that visit at least six of the project locations will be eligible to register to win the prize package.

Tour of Remodeled Homes admission is $4 in advance, and $7 at the door of the projects. Starting Wed., May 1, through Fri., May 17, advance tickets can be purchased between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council office, 11815 W. Dearbourn Ave. in Wauwatosa.

Attendees that bring two, non-perishable food items to the door of the first project they visit will receive a $2 admission discount, with the food items to be donated to The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County.
